Cheap Cheerleading Uniforms And Other Items

By Chasity Sheppard

Being a cheerleader is hard work, but is a great way to keep fit and make friends. There are lots of events to attend and it requires physical stamina. You may also need to invest in equipment, but things can be bought for little money, like cheap cheerleading uniforms.

Of course the first job is to find the squad you would like to join. If you want to be part of one team in particular, you could contact the captain even before auditions are advertised so that they know you are interested. Otherwise, stay vigilant to make sure you know of audition dates for different groups well in advance so you can prepare.

Auditions can vary from team to team, but it is likely to revolve around dancing and tumbling. Some teams will take absolute beginners, perhaps just for classes to start with, before you can then move on to an events team. However, it is better for your chances of success if you can perform some moves like the splits or a few tumbles.

Learning tumbles can be difficult, but there are ways to learn professionally to reduce the risk of injury. For example, gymnastics and trampoline classes will both teach the techniques you will need. Alternatively, there are some cheer classes who will cater exclusively for beginners and will teach the skills needed to audition for a proper team.

If you are successful in being accepted into a squad, you will surely need to look the part for your first event. The dress code is usually a top and skirt with shorts for underneath, but there can also be a winter option, such as a long sleeved top to wear underneath the cheer top. This will be very useful for outdoor cheers, like a football game in cold weather.

Another part of the dress code is the bow. Most teams will have one to match their outfit colours, and it can be worn with your hair up or down, or even clipped into very short hair. These can be bought in bulk by the team captain or coach, and then sold to each member of the group to make it cheaper.

Although most events tend to revolve around supporting sports teams at their games, there are also competitions specifically for cheer groups. Often there will be more than one stage, so most squads like to wear their normal outfit for the first round, and then perhaps a costume for any subsequent heats. This could be a theme to support your music, for example a popular musical with dances from that show.

If your team practises tumbling, it is very important to have supportive footwear. A good pair of trainers can be bought for little money and will last a long time. Groups that specialise in dancing may prefer dance shoes, although trainers will suit both dancing and tumbling, and are a worthy investment.

Becoming a cheerleader is sure to bring you fun, friends and fitness, and it does not have to be expensive. Cheap cheerleading uniforms, bows and trainers are widely available. Consider urging the coach or captain to buy in bulk so that they can be sold cheaply to individual members of the team.
