Getting Into Shape With Kettlebells

Would you like to lose a few pounds and get into shape? There aren't many people who would turn down the opportunity to improve their body and become healthier so chances are that you're interested. If so, kettlebell exercises may be a good option for you. Kettlebells are increasing in popularity and are a fun way to get into shape.

Kettlebells are made in the shape of a cannonball and have a handle on them. They were first used in Russia, where they are called girya. While they have been around for a long time, they are starting to become popular again.

So, you might be wondering how to start doing kettlebell exercises. It really isn't that tough. You simply pick them up and then place them back down. It's not the most thrilling thing you'll ever do. However, that is the focus of most exercise routines so it shouldn't surprise you too much.

But what distinguishes kettlebells from other forms of exercises is its versatility. They can vary greatly in weight, from about 4 to 175 pounds. Don't worry, when you start out, you'll probably start with something on the smaller end. But the true value of kettlebell exercises is that they engage your entire body at once. Whereas regular weights utilize only a small part of your body at one time, swinging kettlebells uses your whole body, allowing a full body workout that gets you to your goals.

The secret is that kettlebells are what are called "ballistic" exercises, which comprises lifting weights with an accelerating motion, instead of lifting weights and putting them down slowly, which is how most strength training exercises are completed. This way, kettlebell exercises cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training all at one time. This way, you can do everything at once, saving you time and getting you the body you're looking for. That's pretty neat.
