Great Ways To Burn Off Baby Fat

By Dorthy Weatherbush

It is your first day as a new mom and you could not be happier. All the labor pains now seem worthwhile as you cuddle your little angel. Then one day as you visit the restroom, your hospital gown opens slightly and you witness the horror that is the baby fat belly. Somehow you assumed that you would have your old figure back almost instantly but you soon discovered that for most women, this isn't true.

The reality is that it takes effort and time to return to your normal weight. Experts have proven that it can take about a month and a half and even that is predicated on exactly how much weight you gained during the pregnancy.

Given the right amount of nutrition and exercise, combined with an appropriate time frame, you can shed that unwanted baby weight faster than you think. Whether this takes a few weeks to a few months depends on your commitment to the process. Don't expect overnight success although some women do achieve this.

They are the ones that make some many well intentioned mothers give up too soon. Rather than being intimidated by their rare success, use it as motivation. There are a few things in this life that we have to chalk up to genetics, so why worry about it. Transfer all of that emotion into pushing yourself harder and further than you ever thought you could go.

Give yourself a week before trying to do anything other than take care of the baby and yourself. Eat healthy, but do not overeat, even if you are breastfeeding. You do not need to as long as you are supplying yourself with a well-balanced diet.

Breastfeeding happens to be a great way to speed up the process of ridding yourself of excess baby fat. Breastfeeding burns approximately 500 calories a day. Now that is major calorie burning, not to mention how good it is for you little baby!

Drinking water during this time period is also crucial. Studies suggest that between 8 and 10 large bottles of water should be consumed each day. The best part is that the water keep you hydrated and clear out any toxins or poisons you may have inhaled or ingested.

As soon as you feel that you are able, you may also consider trying to incorporate a scaled down workout into your daily activities. The best part is that you can take your daily tasks and turn them into exercises. Lifting your baby or bending to put clothes in a drawer are all activities that can double as weight loss exercises.

Do some waist whittlers and some toe touches. Do not do anything with jumping or bouncing movements. No sudden jerking movements for a few more weeks. Always start out slowly to make sure that your body is ready.

Baby fat that you obtained while you are pregnant is sometimes tough to lose, but it is within reasonable expectations to do so. The goal of getting rid of the remaining baby fat and bring yourself back to your pre-pregnancy weight will take sweat and hard work, but if you are determined to do it you will find your way.
