Nutritionists work hand in hand with dietitians to assist in disease prevention and treatment of other diseases through diet modifications and upholding healthy feeding habits. Nutrition jobs are so many currently following the rise in concern of health conditions and well being of the society. There has been an issue about the increase of lifestyle diseases such as illnesses of the heart, diabetes, high blood pressure and obese in many parts of the world.

Dietitians facilitate meal service system for organizations such as schools and hospitals. They promote healthy eating habits through conducting nutrition education programs, and research. Nutrition jobs cover many areas of practice. They include clinical, consultant dietetics, community, and public health management.

In 2008 most Dietitians in the United States of America worked in hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. This added up to a total of over sixty thousand jobs. In the United States just like anywhere in the world, a successful career begins with holding a Bachelors degree. Throughout the several years of study, various fields are covered. The most important subjects are: Biology, human Dietetics, the human anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, industrial chemistry, clinical dietetics and community health.

A food scientist who makes up his or her mind to work in private practice has a wide range of fields to choose from. A consultancy firm is a good idea. Putting up a therapeutic firm is also a viable option. When planning on which business to pursue, it is important to weigh up current information on the profession with regard to earnings as well as specific considerations on to the Dietitian jobs expansion point of view.

Dieticians who have practiced for a long time may advance to associate assistants or director of a health program or even decide to employ themselves. Some Dietitians decide to further their education and specialize in other areas. Examples are, pediatric health, and renal health.

Employment opportunities for Dietitians are likely to grow very fast just like other occupations. The rapidly growing and aging population will raise the demand for diets and health counseling in hospitals, emergencies, prisons, home health care agencies and community health programs. Competition for vacancies is also getting stiffer each day.

Although the outlook of nutrition jobs is very good, completion for the few vacancies available is greater than ever before. This competition is brought about by the fact that there are friendly rules governing the profession of Dietitians, and because of the high rate of health related problems. Even though most states have different threshold qualifications, most states share the least requirement of a Bachelors degree coupled with the enthusiasm of furthering their education. Most of the people in the United States are struggling to achieve full time jobs even though they do part time practice.

Nutrition jobs fall in to various categories such as Clinical dietitians who offer professional services to clients in organizations such as hospitals and clinics. Community dietitians conduct professional counseling to persons and groups on proper dietetic practices intended to prevent diseases and promote good health. They are mostly employed in work places like public health clinics. Management dietitians supervise large-scale food planning and preparation in company cafeterias, hotels, health care facilities, and schools. Consultant dietitians are professionals who work under agreement with several health care amenities and also run self consultancy firms.
