Resourceful Information About Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy

By Ladonna Franklin

Hormones are important components of the body and play a crucial role in the growth of both male and female bodies. The three primary hormones in the human body are; testosterone found in males, estrogen and progesterone found in females. These primary hormones are responsible for secondary sexual functions in both sexes. Imbalances of such hormones can bring serious life threatening conditions. That is why natural hormone replacement therapy has been developed to assist people with such imbalances.

Originally, treatment of imbalances involved the conventional way that used synthetic hormones in the replacement therapy. However, this natural therapy was developed later to help manage the condition. This treatment involves the use of bioidentical hormones in replacement. These forms are similar to those produced in body, but are obtained from plants. Thus unlike the synthetic forms, these ones have no preservatives or chemicals.

The crucial hormones of the human body are also referred to as sex hormones, and their production falls as a person ages. For a woman, the decline in production starts as she reaches menopause and for men is at andropause. Upon diagnosis and it is realized that an individual has an imbalance, this therapy can be administered for treatment.

Use of bioidentical forms has proved to be effective in both men and women. Results show that when men with decreased testosterone levels are put under this treatment, the effects are tremendous. Such people experience increased productivity, energy, muscle mass and even sex drive. In women, replacement use of this natural therapy has proved successful in those with low progesterone and estrogen forms.

Upon introduction of the bioidentical hormones in the body, they are similar to those found in the body. Thus these forms will not compete with the naturally produced hormones. Together, they will work in restoring the normal level of hormones in the body, hence improved body functions.

There are many advantages of this natural replacement therapy, but the obvious one is that it has little or no side effects. This is because all ingredients used are natural and safe when converted into other forms. The forms in which they can be found are; tablets, capsules, sprays, creams, gels, lozenges, implants or as injectable solutions. The other advantage is that these forms are tailor made for every patient.

There are however certain precautions that must be taken when this therapy is involved. First is that he hormonal forms must be administered on prescriptions. In some places, such forms can be purchased over the counter. This should not be the case. A person who can prescribe this treatment must be a medical practitioner as they are the only ones who can monitor the patient continuously. In case of any side, the therapy must be stopped.

The natural hormone replacement therapy is considered safe in the short term. The reason for is this is that it is an alternative method. If a patient's body reacts well to it, the treatment process continues to the end. But if there are serious side effects experienced, it is stopped and the patient taken to the synthetic treatment. It is important that one should go through a thorough discussion with the physician before deciding on this therapy.
